Open OS X Mail

Select Mail drop down menu and the Preferences... item.
- Click on the account you wish to change in order to highlight it. You can skip this step if the desired account is already highlighted.

For Account Type, if IMAP is displayed,
then you do not need to perform this change.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Check the box labeled Remove copy from server after retrieving a message
- On the selection below, choose After one week.
- Close the window to save this change.
